Remote and hybrid work are now established parts of how many businesses operate, and independent professionals are part of that picture.

For project-based work, engaging an independent professional can be simpler than creating a permanent role — provided the scope, contract, security and working relationship are set up properly.

The harder part is finding a professional space where the fees, payment flow and responsibilities are clear. That is the gap VirtualMasst was built to address. But before the how, the what. Starting with the name. What is the meaning VirtualMasst?

What is the meaning VirtualMasst - Virtual must

VirtualMasst is a play on "virtual must."

Because virtual working is no longer optional. No company and no individual can afford to ignore digitalisation — and for independent professionals, remote is not a policy, it is simply Tuesday.

So we built a platform that takes that seriously: somewhere freelancers and companies can work together without either of them draining their savings to do it.

The name is an argument, not a tagline. Virtual work is a must. We built for that.

Signing up, step by step

The current onboarding is straightforward, although individual screens and steps can change as the platform develops.

1. Go to the VirtualMasst website and choose whether you are joining as an independent professional or an enterprise.

2. Create your account with accurate information and accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

3. Verify your email, log in and complete the profile information relevant to your account type.

4. Add the professional information clients need to assess you — experience, skills, portfolio or other supporting details where relevant.

5. Complete Stripe Connect onboarding when prompted. Stripe handles identity, banking and anti-money-laundering checks required for its payment services.

6. Make sure your business registration and tax details are lawful and current for your jurisdiction. You remain responsible for them.

7. Complete any subscription or account-access steps shown in your dashboard and submit the profile for platform review where required.

VirtualMasst may review registrations and profiles for platform standards before granting full visibility or access. Stripe — not VirtualMasst — handles KYC/AML checks. Neither process is a guarantee that every statement in a user profile is accurate, so clients should still do their own due diligence.

Worth the extra ten minutes: a detailed profile attracts better opportunities. Thoughtfulness pays.

VirtualMasst does not use a bidding-war model to decide who gets the work. A clear profile, relevant experience and a good fit with the project still have to do the convincing.

What is actually checked

There are two different layers, and keeping them separate matters.

VirtualMasst may review profiles before they become visible and can decline incomplete or unsuitable registrations under its platform rules. Identity, banking and AML/KYC checks required for payments are handled through Stripe.

For independent professionals: you must have lawful enterprise registration where required by your local law and remain responsible for your tax, invoicing, licensing and professional obligations.

For enterprises: the same principle applies. You provide accurate company information, complete required onboarding and remain responsible for your own legal and contractual obligations as the hiring party.

Once onboarding is complete, companies can browse profiles or post projects, and independent professionals can browse eligible projects and apply or receive private offers.

That is the practical system: connect, agree the work directly, pre-fund through Stripe, deliver, invoice and release payment under the current Terms of Use.

The extra onboarding is deliberate. It is meant to keep the platform professional without pretending that profile review replaces the client's own checks or local legal advice.

A quick note from us. The insights shared here are based on our team's honest opinions and experiences, presented in good faith to help you along the way. This isn't formal legal, financial, or tax advice. Rules differ by country and by working arrangement, so check the current VirtualMasst Terms of Use and consult a qualified local professional where you need advice for your specific circumstances.
