How to hire freelancers in Europe directly, without an agency
Hi, my name is Assumpta, and today I want to talk to you about VirtualMasst: a new platform that makes it easier for companies and independent freelancers or consultants to find each other, in Belgium in particular and across Europe.
Why I created VirtualMasst
From what I hear, companies are looking for ways to reduce the cost of hiring. At the same time, freelancers are looking for an easy way to find work, because there is no dedicated place for it. Many are still searching for jobs on social media, between holiday photos and family news. In 2026, that is a little strange.
So I created VirtualMasst: a structured way to hire freelancers. You post a job, freelancers register and apply, and you hire them directly.
How hiring works on VirtualMasst
Post your job. Describe the work, what you expect and the skills you need.
Talents register and apply. Freelancers and consultants create their profile and apply for the jobs that fit them.
Talk directly. You speak with the talent yourself and agree on the rate, the timeline and how you will work together.
Hire directly. If the talent says yes, you hire them. If not, you move on to the next person.
There are no algorithms deciding who you see.
An example
Imagine you are a company in Charleroi and you want to hire Mr Bruges, a finance expert. Today you would probably go through an agency or a consultancy firm.
With VirtualMasst, you post the job, invite Mr Bruges to register on the platform with his rate, and hire him from there. You negotiate directly with him, without a middle person. You tell him your budget and the length of the job, and he says yes or no.
To the agencies: I am not against you. There is enough work for everyone.
