APPLYING

How the VirtualMasst application process works

Check the fit

Read the job and decide whether the required expertise, deliverables, timing and work setup fit your experience and availability.

Apply

Apply when you want to be considered. If an account upgrade is required for the application, the platform will prompt you.

First contact

The employer decides who to contact. If they contact you, discuss the job directly before agreeing to work together.

COLLABORATION AGREEMENT

Agree the work before you begin

You and the employer agree the job directly before work starts.

  • The deliverables and expected outcome
  • Your professional rate and time commitment
  • The timeline
  • Acceptance criteria
  • Several projects for a larger job, if the employer chooses that structure
  • How changes affect the scope, timing and rate

PAYMENT

Verification, pre-funding and payment

Payouts are issued fifteen calendar days after the employer releases payment for a completed project.

  • Current charges are listed on Pricing.
  • Connect Stripe and complete its identity, banking and compliance checks, including Know Your Customer (KYC). Your profile is reviewed and approved by the VirtualMasst team.
  • The employer pays upfront by credit card or bank transfer through Stripe. Funds are held within the Stripe payment flow until release.
  • Talents across Europe can use VirtualMasst's PEPPOL invoicing when required.

POSITIONING

Make your profile evidence of how you work

Your profile should help an employer understand what you can contribute. Use real professional examples that show decisions, constraints, responsibilities and outcomes.

Profiles that demonstrate capability

  • Solving a difficult technical or business problem
  • Improving an existing process or system
  • Delivering an agreed outcome
  • Explaining your responsibility within the work
  • Showing how you handled practical constraints

Keep your expertise clear

Focus on the services, skills and experience that best represent the professional work you want to do next.

ACCEPTING THE OFFER

Respond when an employer makes an offer

Accepting an offer

Review the agreed scope, timeline, deliverables, project structure where relevant and commercial terms.

Accept when the work is clear, the terms fit your expectations and you are ready to begin once the agreed work is pre-funded.

Declining an offer

You can decline when the job does not fit your expertise, availability or professional direction.

The employer can then continue the conversation with other talents.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Prepare for the job

  • Know your professional rate and availability
  • Keep your Business number and professional details current
  • Keep your profile, CV and portfolio updated
  • Have your invoicing details ready
  • Confirm the scope, timeline, deliverables and rate
  • Confirm whether the work setup is remote, on site or hybrid

INDEPENDENCE

Keep your independence as work develops

Longer jobs can form part of your independent professional business while you continue to control how you present and provide your expertise.

Work towards agreed outcomes

Keep the deliverables, timeline and responsibilities clear. For a larger job, the employer can decide to split the work into several projects.

Use your professional working methods

Agree the access, tools, communication and collaboration requirements you need to provide the work.

Build on completed work

Use relevant completed work to strengthen your experience, profile, CV and future conversations with employers.

Develop ongoing professional relationships

A successful collaboration can lead to another job when the employer has further work and both sides want to continue.

Repeat jobs and ongoing relationships
