Independent freelancers love to complain about subscriptions. Let’s be realistic a little bit: visibility has a price — and so does reputation. Think about it, you’ll happily pay €7 for a coffee that disappears in 14 minutes, but €15 a month for a platform that could land you serious projects? Suddenly that’s “too much”? That’s not a financial problem, but in our opinion, a mindset problem!
Free vs. Paid: the harsh reality!
On a free workspace, you’re listed, but not really seen. Think LinkedIn: unless someone already knows you, talks about you, or you’ve paid to advertise yourself, you’re buried under the algorithm’s filter. That’s how it works — algorithm filtering at its finest.
On a free listing, you’re just another smile in a sea of faces.
No portfolio preview, no credibility, no reason to trust you. It’s like pinning a flyer to a crowded bulletin board and hoping someone will notices. Spoiler: they don’t.
Free feels cheap because it is, no value, no depth, no difference🤷♀️
would you:
· expect Spotify to host your music for free?
· demand a supermarket shelf without paying rent?
· ask for a free desk in a co-working space “because you have dreams”?
· ....
Exactly! So why expect a professional platform to market you, filter scammers, handle payments, and build trust — for free? Seriously?
Subscriptions aren't access fees, but infrastructure; you're not buying a password, you're buying a spot to show your experience and perhaps your smile, but more importantly, to demonstrate credibility and receive support while building your wealth.
Behind the Curtain
Every button, every payment, every anti-scam filter — someone built that, not in a weekend, but in years, through design, testing, breaking, fixing, and rebuilding.
They could've chased their own dreams — but instead, they built your dream stage. (Technically, it's their dream too, but lucky you, you get to stand on it!) And your first reaction is: "Wait… why does it cost €15?" Are you kidding? Do you know how much was invested so you could shine?

Free is too expensive
If you're still clinging to free tools, free exposure, free accounts — guess what your clients see? Someone who doesn't believe in their own value. Let's do some math: if you won't invest €15 in your career, you're probably not ready to earn €1,500 from it. Success costs something, and that's why not everyone has it.
TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read): This isn't about subscriptions. It's about respect, readiness, and reality. Do you want to be treated like a professional? Act like one. Pay your seat, show up and own your platform. Dear independent freelancer, you are either on stage or in the crowd.
